I'm currently in a little twist as I'm building a new rigg but I'm currently not sure on what rams I should be getting.
The Rigg will look like this:
ASUS SABERTOOTH X58, Socket-1366
Intel Core i7 960 3,2GHz Socket 1366 Box 2
Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EARS 64MB 2TB
MSI GeForce N570GTX Twin Frozr II/OC 1280MB
Will be using a 600W power supply
My budget is limited so decided not to go for 1800Mhz ddr3's but instead go for the 1600Mhz ones and try to focus on good latency. I figured 6GB should be enough for a gaming rigg so that's what my search has been for and since intel i7 supports Tripple technology the rams have to come in sets of 3x.
So I came up with these: OCZ Platinum XTE LV DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL6 3x2GB (OCZ3XTEP1600C6LV6GK)
They have a latency of 6-8-6-24.
But in my search I also stumbled upon these: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL9 6x2GB (HX3X12G1600C9).
They are instead 6x2GB Rams with a latency of 9-9-9-24.
Now I believe the performance won't matter THAT much but if I should go for the 12GB's I probably don't have to allocate HDD space for windows (can't remember the english name for it), but usually windows takes like 5-10GB of hard drive space to use for upping performance. With 12GB's I could inactivate this I'm guessing.
*EDIT*: If it helps, might be worth mentioning this rigg will be playing SC2, Rift, LoL mainly.
I still have about 2 weeks until I start ordering so any advice on the rams will be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
