  1. I'm thinking the same but might run out of patience
  2. Immediately makes me think that the 5900x is going to be better suited to folks who still do video encoding etc - non-gaming workloads, really out of touch with how well the most modern games utilise multi-core CPU's though - can eight be enough?
  3. I've not been following hardware that much Pete, but the short version pending reviews of the upcoming AMD CPU's are that they are going to be hitting close to Intel speeds with more cores for the first time in ... ever?
  4. I'm still using a 4790K, with a 2080Ti, definitely CPU bottlenecked but not enough to really notice it in anything I currently play (3440x1440) I'm considering going to AMD for a CPU for the first time in 20 years!
  5. You'll have to try better than that
  6. Who the fuck are you and what did Who the fuck are you and what did you do with Pete?

Now now Cog, just because I was teasing you a little bit, no need to go that far

Tried the beta, it reminds me more of Inquisitor Martyr than for example Diablo 3 at this stage of it's development, it might be fun to play but without some pretty major changes it's not going to have longevity for me.
  9. I'm also waiting to see what to pick up, although my current 980 is ok in most games at 3440x1440, but it tanks badly in games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey or Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Turning down resolution scaling in game and reducing level of detail to medium brought me up to around 60 FPS in AC:O. Biggest problem is my disgust at having to turn down the detail, definitely time for a new card, just waiting for the market to settle a bit.

Also enjoying this game a lot, only thing i'm playing at the moment. Puzzled by the fact that the storyline missions seem to bump up the difficulty of the random missions, suddenly found my lance of mediums meeting mainly heavies, to the point were I was suddenly running out of SRM's and LRM's. Also although it makes me desperately unhappy I have to agree with Lyngs, want to buy ultrawide screen support. As to improvements, would like to see a loot system along the lines of Dawn of War 2 as first choice, or an RPGesque green/blue/purple quality system as second choice. Overall if you changed nothing from what I've seen so far I wouldn't complain!
  11. Purchased, should arrive tomorrow. On a totally unrelated note, I'm thinking I might work from home tomorrow because umm errr, the weather! Yeah I'm working from home tomorrow because the weather....
  12. Mine is not a Ti and I play a mixture of games so I'm not overly worried about performance a lot of the time. I've just finished playing Ghost Recon Wildlands and it's a title like that which I'm assuming I'd have to lower the settings for the 980 to cope with that game at that resolution. I could live with that as long as the FPS isn't going to be too bad, I rarely play anything other than single player these days because of other commitments so I'm thinking it will be fine 90% of the time.
  13. I've been toying with the idea of upgrading to an X34P but unsure how well a 980 will manage with that resolution. Anyone have practical experience of this or something similar? Will I just end up wanting to buy a new graphics card which I'm not going to do for at least a year probably...
