Sammerkand Report post Posted January 11 Bit of a wierd one, Updated Motherboard to AM4 and a 5600x , i tested it overclocked with stock cooler with all cores at 4700 from 3700 stable and only 81 degrees. Can play cyberpunk maxed out for hours, no issues. BUT, the bloody pc restarts randomly just watching video! The only thing changed is the MOBO and CPU and if they can run massively overclocked why the hell is it restarting ???
Sammerkand Report post Posted January 11 no, its not overheating, i ran a stress tewst for 8 hours, no issues. Just when i play video ......
Cogency Report post Posted January 11 (edited) Do you get a bluescreen? or does it just restart? Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration in the browser settings? Edited January 11 by Cogency
Sammerkand Report post Posted January 11 no bluescreen, just restarts. does it with or without hardware acceleration.... If i dont watch amazon prime or you tube on the 2nd monitor i can run full on max settings with games all day. I tried uninstalling drivers used a driver cleaner and re-installing. Made no difference. This Only started since i put new motherboard in, its just so damn specific. Only crashes when playing video. If i run games and video, the video stutters like hell, and on a 2080rtx ti, that should not happen. I will try the old 980gtx and see if that crashes on video. if it doesnt might have to ruin it in the other PCI slot.
Howley Report post Posted January 12 (edited) Try swapping the cables from your GPU into a new slot on the PSU, assuming it's a modular PSU Edited January 12 by Howley
Sammerkand Report post Posted January 12 To late. I am without a pc . It filled the room with blue smoke. It is dead I have had to order a new one. Luckily the 2080ti is OK as I had it out , although I did kill a 980gtx tho. New pc end of Jan. Sigh
Cogency Report post Posted January 12 What died? The PSU?
Sammerkand Report post Posted January 12 Mobo caught fire and took out the new cpu and nvme drives, along with the psu as well as the RAM. I just ordered a new pc but have to wait until the 25th

Kunasha Report post Posted January 13 Damn right! I've never really considered it, but maybe we should have fire extinguishers in our homes!
Cogency Report post Posted January 13 If you do so, make sure you get one that can deal with electrical fires. (there are different types) Bought one after I got the 3d printers. Also have a smaller one in the car.
Sammerkand Report post Posted January 13 YOu want CO2 for the home in general.
Kunasha Report post Posted January 13 CO2, and a foam really
Ernesto Report post Posted January 14 I have a fire blanket in the kitchen and extinguisher in the bedroom. The one i have is powder i think, gotta buy a new one i think, this one might be expired. My smoke alarms always go off when i have steak night. Goid thing they are 3,6 meters up so I cannot temporarily turn them off....
Sammerkand Report post Posted January 14 Powder is good for oil fires and electrical, the blanket is also good for oil. CO2 is good for all electrical and standard house fires. Powder is now frowned upon in the home as dependent on the age of the unit, it could contain some very nasty chemicals. We only use water and Co2 at work, as suggested by the Fire Regulations. (Yes i am the company Health and safety officer, and i have a degree in Occupational Health and safety .....Most boring thing i have ever done .....) Joeezor Report post Posted January 14 (edited) If you have one in the kitchen causing a problem, try swapping it out for just a heat detector instead of a smoke detector. Edited January 14 by Joeezor
