Naicha Report post Posted September 5, 2012 Fixed the last stuff. Hopefully I can hold it now. Using standard fertilizing dose and easy carbo 1ml/day now until I get any real co2 up.. To the left behind the root there are lots of small ludwigia repens https://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&safe=off&q=ludwig ia+repens&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.&biw=1680& amp; amp;bih=925&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og &sa=N&tab=wi&ei=d4BHUOqDN4rZ4QTQqYEo aswell that are going to grow up big behind there is the plan. Lets just hope it will hold this time and not go horrible. But this time around I've got a proper filter and no stupid background that causes problems. So my own experiments cant fuck it up anyway. EDIT: Imo looks way better than before. More natural now. I've learned a thing or two about design it seems.

Lyngs Report post Posted September 6, 2012 Loving the new setup. You are indeed getting good at it. I am still struggling to get my nutrient levels right and some kind of parasite I cant figure out what is. Have so far lost five Cichlids on that account. There are so many tests and shit you can do but it's so many variables all time it's not easy to keep aquariums all the time. :/
Naicha Report post Posted September 7, 2012 What/where would be the best place to route co2, Lyngs? :/ I don't want the ladder because it's ugly.

I used to have it go into my extern pump intake, but heard that it can fill up at the rotor and make the engine burn out. So after trying a bell which proved to be very ineffective, I bought a nano hydor circulation pump and placed the CO2 outlet just below it.

So just a super tiny circ pump that's just used to shoot the bubbles out in the tank? only pump water around? Are you using oneo f those rocks that squeeze the air out in tiny bubbles? Lyngs Report post Posted September 8, 2012 This one: http://www.hydor.it/index.php/prodotti/show/famprod/28/list/ 12#tabelle The CO2 comes out via airstone, gets sucked into the circulation pump and around the tank. I only chose this solution because I needed more circulation anyway tho.
Naicha Report post Posted September 8, 2012 As you can see the water is now crystal clear. Lovin' the new filter! And no anoying yellow tint with 9000K lights.
Lyngs Report post Posted September 8, 2012 Looking good. My last agassizii died a few hours ago. No visible signs of disease. Just a few days of "shyness" and lack of appetite, then dead. Disected him but found nothing on the gills or in his stomack.

Naicha Report post Posted September 9, 2012 That's weird Lyngs. But fish death seems to be incredibly random sometimes. Korp! That is insane
Naicha Report post Posted September 16, 2012 Looks alot more neat than silicone mayhem. Hopefully it doesn't leak under the bolts (as shown by the arrows in my picture). I used cable ties aswell to make sure it really sticks with the tubing. I'm more worried about it leaking below the bolts though. Gonna load one 1,75L coke can today and see if it works. Naicha Report post Posted September 16, 2012 I got to get some Dwarf Otocinclus to get rid of the algae that shows up. Even if it doesnt keep popping up alot something needs to clean it up. My pleco can only really take care of glass and maybe the root. I need small cleaners that can care for my plants etc.
Naicha Report post Posted September 17, 2012 Got three of them small fishies. They started cleaning Vallisneria leaves etc right away. I do have the giant ancistrus (Or it's a pleco.) but as you can imagine it's too big to actually do any cleaning on anything other than roots/glass. However lately he doesn't seem to be eating anything really. He's ALWAYS just hiding behind the root. There are lots of nice jummy fuuds for him on the root but doesn't even touch it. Or the windows. Wonder if he's sick or something.. :S
Naicha Report post Posted September 17, 2012 This is sick btw. Speaking of Otocinclus. 750 of them in a 10 000 liter tank.

Naicha Report post Posted September 17, 2012 I'd really like a 250-300 liter Malawi tank one day. With their bright and shiny colors etc. Beautiful. Yeah, if another one died I wouldn't really care but this guy is like 7-8 years old so it would be boring if he died... I'm also thinking of replacing him, maybe trying to find someone to adopt him cause I feel abit sorry for him. He's so big and doesn't hvae all that much space. I suppose people with big tanks could be interested in these bigger guys since they don't want to wait for tiny store ones to grow big?
Naicha Report post Posted September 17, 2012 I want ember tetra! Bright red! + They only grow to 3 cm size, in other words, they remain pretty small, which is good for my tank that's not so big. There's a store about 100 km away that sells them. They are super rare around here :/ 15ish of those would be lovely. EDIT: They also have Axelrodia riesei caught in the wild. They are also very nice and also small. Red but with details on ther fins etc.
Naicha Report post Posted September 17, 2012 I'm talking alot now. I figured the tank isnt densely enough planted. I'm thinking of moving the vallis to the right to like grow from the corner up under the root to "peak out" and then move some of the smaller vallis to in between the two "spots" of ludwigia, to make it more dense when it comes together. but that would mean the left is almost empty again so I'd need lots more plants. And the left side looks silly tbh, just a couple of random plants without foregorund plants to cover the "floor" etc. And no contrast with small leaved plants for example. END RANT. EDIT RANT: I clearly need more staurogyne but where dafuk will I find that?! EDIT RANT AGAIN: Ordered some more stauro, 2 anubias with little thinner leaves and a red ludwigia and and and uh, a becketti midground plant. I WANT LUSH AQUARIUM. Staurogyne is the most beautiful plant ever aswell.
Lyngs Report post Posted September 18, 2012 Hehe, I bet it wont be long before you get a second tank.
Naicha Report post Posted September 18, 2012 First I need to stop sucking and learn how to take care of ONE properly. And to make it look nice. Aquascaping is teh fluxxing hard. But then again, even if I think mine isn't that good, looking at forums on other peoples tanks I quickly realize that 95% of the aquariums people have look ridiculously ugly. Naicha Report post Posted September 18, 2012 I have high hopes for my new co2 system. It hasnt started really yet but dont think its leaking. It's pushing bubbles into the ladder atm but the air from the co2 reactor hasnt reached the water in the "cleaning bottle" yet. But suppose its not hihg pressure enough yet to push the water away. But since its bubbling in the ladder I guess its slowly pushing the water away cause otherwise where would the bubbles be coming from.

Unless you have a gassy demon living in there it is most likely working as intended. Maybe the pressure cant go high enough? If it hasnt started doing what it should after 40hrs, then its time to tinker with it. The other day I told my mother that I am wishing for a 6L pressurerised CO2 tank for christmas. The look on her face...

The look on her face... Hahaha. Well as you said its still bubbling so it's probably still increasing pressure. And if I just shake the bottle alittle it starts bubbling like crazy when all the co2 is released fast. So hopefully there aren't any leaks. Otherwise I'll just get some super glue or something and glue around the bolts. EDIT: I can also just put some water+soap on the cap then tie a knot on the tube and press the bottle and see if it bubbles around the bolts.
Naicha Report post Posted September 19, 2012 It leaked exactly where I painted my red arrows in the picture up above. Noticed by lowering it into water. Fixed it by getting some of the leftover dried silicone from the removed BTN parts and putting it between the bolts. Now it's not leaking as it seems cause it pushes bubbles now. Now let's just hope they dissolve good enough otherwise I guess I have to get a ceramic diffusor or something. Also got one of those protein layers in the water surface now. Will remove next water change on sunday. And don't feed the guys for 4-5 days. They got one of those sinking pellets foods yesterday and those contain quite alot of food. So maybe that caused the protein layer that suddenly showed today cause it wasnt there yesterday. Weirdly though the coke caps doesn't leak. Dunno why but the caps are different. Lyngs Report post Posted September 20, 2012 Naicha wrote on Thu, 20 September 2012 19:43Weird that it hasn't stopped. None of the "experts" I have talked to about it has come up with a clear diagnosis. Its all guesses, mostly on intestinal parasites, but I have already used two different treatments for that.
