Meet Bella, my kitten! :D

Recommended Posts

Murphys blood results showed positive for Calici virus. There was no sign of inflammation or any other deficiencies in the blood sample.

He is doing much better and should recover fully from the infection within the week. We are going to the specialist tomorrow to get a prognosis on the knee.

Bella is showing signs of Calici infection. But now that we know what it is, we are not worried about it. It is basically the equivallent to aggressive influenza in humans.

Thats the "sneezing disease" right? My cat gets a shot for that also every year. But that could be lethal right? I guess there are different stages. Murphy might have infected her?

Yeah, it is basically Influenza for Cats. Unless already weakened immune system, it usually wont cause a problem. Both kittens have been vaccinated for Calici, but since it is a high mutating virus, just like the common human Influenza, a vaccine wont guard against all strains. It is a very infectious virus so Bellla was most likely infected the day she came.

Murphy had surgery this morning. Replaced ligaments, removed scar tissue and pushed the kneecap back into place. 4-6 weeks of rest for probably 100% recovery. Looks like a plucked chicken thigh. High as a kite on morphine. Wont stop talking.

Does she also change to your chair, when ever you get up, to suck up all the heat?

Haha nope. When I only had one chair she used to climb sometimes behind me to lay down behind my back.. Now she just comes and sits next to me in her own lil chair and sometimes climbs on my lap.

You can have four! Both are doing great. Murphy is getting huge. Weighing 6,4kg. Almost a full kg more than Bella.

Murphy is a cuddle bear. Always chill and ready for some belly rubbing. Bella is high energy. Always on the prowl.

we destroyed the last shred of class our home might have had and got a 2,3m tall, tacky cat tree. Cats love it.

Bella top.

They also love to go on walks outside. Bella top.

Murphy has gotten a weird habit of crawling under the blankets and sucking his own tail when we are changing the linen.
