Guild

This is the history of the online gaming guild Ginnunga. The history is told by its members as they experienced it. There are factual errors and there are people or whole organizations of people left out, but this is the story of Ginnunga and its own members and not about anyone else.

Many of the events in this document are either not dated, or wrongly dated, this is something we are working on to get corrected, but it is very hard, especially with things that happened several years ago.

We have tried to put this history together with all the members chipping in their part, so that the history is not just written by me or the other leadership. My view of something that happened might be completelly different from how someone else have experienced it and hence, we have to take that into account.

We began working on this chronicle because it was well over due to get our legacy into printing. It was fun writing it and it was fun reading it, at least for the members of the guild, we hope that others that come to read our history will enjoy it as much as we do.

Yours truly
Ernesto - Leader of Ginnunga

EVERQUEST - HISTORY

Ginnunga Version 1.0 was formed in December 1999 and it died off during summer vacations around June / July in 2000
The guild was formed after me, Jhurg and a couple of others were unhappy in our current guild, which was called Black Dragon Valsung.
Ginnunga Version 2.0 was restarted sometime in October / November 2000 and disbanded at the end of April 2001 as Merkez disbanded the guild before he went to Spain over the summer.

MEMBER STORIES FROM EVERQUEST

Memorable and funny events
Here are some short stories about Ginnunga and its members, told by the members themselves. They are sorted by game, in no specific chronological order.

Topic is: “I remember…”
"One of things i really remember with Wizel is that i always, always died at the zone after beeing trained or having a bad pull...i just had to turn and see if it really was that bad..and yes, it was always that bad! " - Wizel

“Eldwin -Oh lil gnome, I still think of him when I see cookies.” - Snyggve

“Ginnunga raiding WW dragons with 10 ppl under recomended and average 5 levels below recomended, but dang did we rock that time... One of the dwaggies being dealth the last damage by Snyggve, Merkez and Nizn meleeing! (AoE Silence, whats that?)” - Snyggve

“Jhurg getting lost in about every zone in EQ.” - Snyggve

“Jhurg starting his career hustling ppl in butcherblock and taking the boat to freeport to sell it and then back to buy etc, he could spend days auctioning.” - Snyggve

“Taking turns with the japaneese at the orcpillar in BB.” - Snyggve

“Breaking into Fear with 4 ppl, 2 2-boxing, very nice work... and then spending 2 hours CR because Gwarg was just gonna have a looksie... I quote:
Merkez tells the group: Gwarg, don't!
Cazic Thule shouts: GWARG!
Nizn tells the group: *censored* -in norsk” - Snyggve

“Nizn going berserk every other day scaring ppl.” - Snyggve

“Laurent/Merkez spending hours looking for his corpse hungover like hell not remembering he logged on the night before. (the corpse was found in plane of fear I believe)” - Snyggve

“Me and Merk drinking so much Vodka at a party that the guest of honor (Mordo visiting from down under) had to flee to Gwarg and Gakadafs mother.” - Snyggve

“Hugme... oh the stories.. the drowning incident, the falling incident..” - Snyggve

“The acceptance in the guild to try new tactics, the way ppl totally trusted the raid leader.” - Snyggve

“Fastas pulling entire fear and kiting em around the hill so we could pick em off... think he ran for an hour or so.” - Snyggve

“One of the glorious moments in EverQuest was early in the games history, we had been camped up in The Plane of Hate for over a month and as usual Fastas was pulling. I was using my paladin spell: Stun to peel the mobs away from the feign death monk, however at the time my English was a bit rusty, so when Fastas told the group: “No dodgy pulling” I understood it as: “PUUULLLL”. I casted my spell on the only monster I saw and it came running for me and the raid. The bad part was that I hadn’t seen the 20+ monsters just around the corner, that felt the need to help their buddy, so around 3 seconds later the entire raid was dead, Fastas was angry and we had to do a rescue mission to get back our gear.” - Laurent

“The first time I met Fastas and Saran was in Lower Guk at the minotaur camp, we were trying to get some item from the Minotaur Elder and things went haywire with trains and god knows what. Saran was playing like crap and I told her that in groupchat, which naturally resulted in Fastas exploding telling me just what he would do with an iron crowbar and my brain. Since that day, Saran and Fastas were, oddly enough, two of my closest online friends.” - Laurent

“In an overcamped Sebilis, me, Nenaddar, Nizn and three more could not find a spot to camp, so we quickly decided to be a travelling boyband who rescued groups that had gone haywire. “Who let the frogs out” was our lead song which we were shouting all over the zone, harassing people as much as possible.” - Laurent

“Nenaddar had met a nice girl called Caslan, so he brought her on one of our PoG raids, Nenaddar who was a druid and didn’t wanna kill trees and animals, spent the time chatting with Caslan, sitting very romantically facing her on the ground, staring into her eyes while she did the same. Of course I couldn’t let them sit there and look all romantic and in love, so I ordered the entire guild to sit on them. Now, if you have a romantic moment, you wouldn’t want a bunch of ogres and trolls to sit on you, would you?
The most amazing thing is that Nenaddar a few years later moved from little Denmark to the US to live with Caslan, I think they are together still. Awwwww how nice.” - Laurent

“Just after the release of Kunark we were farming spells from the Juggernauts in Sebilis. Garrik was whining from the start, annoying the hell out of me. I bit my tongue though and we kept the raid going. Finally when Garrik explained in guildchat how pointless this whole raid was, who the heck needed spells and spellcasters, I exploded inside. In a very calm voice I asked him what the flying fuck he was whining for, and he explained to me that he was whining so I would be annoyed and he could giggle about it. Sigh, stupid cricketplaying brits, may they burn in hell.” – Laurent

“Remember doing Plane of fear with Merkez as Raidleader shouting and yelling at everyone trying to get some order in the raidgroup and for the most of the time getting everyone in line with a few wipes now and then, but it was all good and fun.” - Rhuargh

“Eldwin (the cookiemonster) the crazy gnome, all of a sudden in a raid he could start sprouting out poems and stuff.” - Rhuargh

"When Ruum used a picture of Christer Pettersson as avatar on our EZboard and everyone was horribly scared of him, especially Maldran." - Laurent

This is the history of Ginnunga in the game Lineage II on the Bartz server. The guild was formed during open beta by Ernesto (me) and was upheld even 6 weeks after I left the game.

CAPTURE OF OREN CASTLE

The King of Oren Tlithor tells the story:
Meanwhile SoC & BD were fighting Redemption, we were not involved. This neutrality enabled us to get Oren Castle, which was the start of us being the longest castle holder on the server to date. We did an excellent job there, together with Feral Uprising, IS and Bushido, plus some other small clans (if I remember correctly, even Trolltyg was there ). November from IS and Ernesto were supposed to start casting, the one who would get it done first would get the castle. It turned out to be Ernesto, also because Gloiin managed to accidentally stun November halfway through his cast on the seal. Man, those must have been some awesome pm conversations. Be that as it may, we had the castle!

THE DOMINUS ALLIANCE

Dominus raid on The Core Need to write something more clearly how this came to be, even though Tlithor already did some of it, which I sort of left in his biography

WAR WITH DRAGON KNIGHTS

Tlithor writes:
Slowly we started to grow in numbers, levels, pvp quality and teamwork. The fights with DeadKnights was basically our first pvp, lasted a while, but we beat them. ShaolinCaster joined around this time, Sanquinoxia was also in the clan, Daylight, Valynor, Sinafein, maybe some others, sorry if I am forgetting a few.

Added by Ernesto:
During this war I gained my first 25 PK points and my first couple of PvP points. The war ended when Zeus retired from the game and his clan was dissolved. They later reformed into a new clan and asked for neutrality.
It was during this war we started doing hit and run squads, which means we formed up a group of random people, ran in, PKed all enemies we could find, then we returned to the castle one by one as we went red, and when everyone was red, or there were too few left non-red, we just either died off, or worked off the karma.

CAPTURE OF GIRAN CASTLE

Giran Castle Defense List Giran Castle Signup Tlithor writes:
Meanwhile we were starting to hunt in DVC, and getting minorly involved BD/SoC vs ThoR war. ThoR had lost their Giran castle, BD was planning to attack and literally zerg Aden castle with over 1000 people. This was around fall 2004 I think.
Then Ernesto really put us on the map. He said Ginnunga and IS would defend Aden castle from all attackers, his post on l2orphus was such a fun read, and it got all the teenagers really, really agitated. In practise he did prevent Aden from being captured, by having a cunning plan to secretly sign up to take Giran from SoC, together with Forbidden and ThoR. SoC had no chance, Forbidden took Giran, Aden with "only" 900 attackers left was not taken, Ginnunga was now widely known. The Pokemon generation now knew Ernesto as the "roleplaying guy".

Giran Castle Attacker List Added by Ernesto:
I realised that SoL was a more or less dead clan, and having a dead clan own a castle didn’t seem right to me, so we decided to take it. I didn’t want our alliance to have more than one castle, so we needed a puppet clan who could hold the castle and in return, that clan would be in eternal debt to us. The puppet clan of choice was Forbidden and was chosen because it was an old clan and it had grown strong enough to hold its own. If the puppet clan would have been too weak, taking the castle would only result in loosing it again shortly after. Secret conferences with Sirrah of Oberon Fire Clan and Noods led to that Forbidden (and subclan CamelotCrusaders), ThorForce, Oberon and the two other Dominus clans (Inquisition and Noble Vanguards) signed up to take the castle. Ginnunga participated on flag duty, since we couldn’t sign up for the siege and so did the Noble Vanguards.

WAR WITH SoC / SoL

SoC War Collage Ernesto writes:
After we captured Giran, Krono (SoC) and Smallwind (SoL) were rather angry and launched a PK war against us, claiming that we could “Kiss DVC goodbye” – However this was not the case. The first day after the siege a few of us got PKed in DVC so the following day I decided that we would strike back, and strike back hard.
Our first perma reds were born at this point and we hunted SoC and SoL relentlessly. Just before the loss of Giran, Krono had annexed the alliance Kuei-Jin into SoC and they were the ones who took the hardest hits from this war. We averaged around 25 dead KJs and 5 dead SoCs a day during euro daytime and when the night came, Forbidden took up the torch and kept SoC firmly in place. SoC and SoL disbanded and left for other games and the war was won with nearly no casualties on our side.

[ Back to the top ]

WAR WITH AVENGE / ZEROTOLLERANCE / DELIVERANCE

The Dynamic Duo Tlithor writes:
After this we went back to neutrality again, after some skirmished with SoC, which are hardly worth mentioning. It was all fun and games again for a while, until we encountered Avenge. Even though they played some dirty tricks on us, and didn't always play it straight, this war was the best I ever had. Killing Anarissa over and over, Ernesto putting a price on MasterP´s head, fun fun fun. Up to and during this war the entire Dominus alliance leaned on Ginnunga. This made us proud, but also brought a lot of pressure on the members and especially the leader. Basically, if Ginnunga wasn´t there, Dominus had no leadership in pvp, and were just running around. We beat Avenge, and BD who jumped in, even when they attacked our castle with 38 (!!!!!!) clans vs our 12.

Added by Ernesto:
Nearing what we now know was the end of the AZT war, Avenge annexed an entire alliance into them called something that I don’t remember. That alliance was led by OverDrive if I recall correctly. This was the final nail in the coffin for AZT, eventhough they didn’t yet know it.
The Dynamic Duo With an additional 150 people as enemies, we took PVP to new heights and during the second day of Overdrives alliance into AZT we scored over a hundred PVP and over 50 PKs. The mood was so good that at 02:00 we gathered 3 groups and cleaned out DVC and TOI from AZT, it took around an hour and when the AZT zerg had gathered up too much people for us to hit, we just simply went to bed. The absolute success of this type of operation was continued for 3 more days and with zero casualties on our side I personally had racked in over 30 PKs and AZT could no longer make XP at their own primetime. The follow day Anarissa approached me for peace talks. Me, Oxyurana and November went to the Avenge Teamspeak and we had a talk with 8 of the Avenge leaders. We didn’t agree to much, but the following day we had a meeting again, we presented our demands to Gano and he unconditionally accepted them. The demands were that Avenge alliance would not siege Oren castle for a set number of time, and they would not be allowed to interfere if we wanted to siege Aden or Innadril.

DEFENSE OF OREN CASTLE

Oren Castle Defense List Oren Castle NPC Guards Tlithor writes:
Avenge, and BD attacked our castle with 38 (!!!!!!) clans vs our 12. Man that was beautiful. Seeing half of their forces retreat because a 12 clan block of people came out with militairy precission. I don't have much love for IS leadership, but Oxyurana sure could plan a siege.

Sadly all this came at a price, the pressure within the alliance had been on Ginnunga ever since we got the castle, and got enormous during Avenge/BD war. After that we slowly started to get less and less active, being bored with the game, needing breaks, playing other games, real life situations came up. Activity started to decrease. We did manage to take Aden, which was a great achievement, but ThoR and RK didn't like it that much. Basically we couldn't deal with this war, Ernesto was inactive and the alliance started to crumble, leading to Dominus and Evolution loosing all castles within 1 weekend. Also Oren was gone. We had no choice but to surrender and start a new clan.

Meanwhile I was slowly starting to play more and more WoW, which is my current project.

[ Back to the top ]

CAPTURE OF ADEN CASTLE

AshNC arrives at Aden Castle Ernesto writes:
The same day as we signed the peace treaty with AZT we had a run-in with some new Blue Dragon members (From the clan LEGACY) and I approached Texas and made clear that any attack, what so ever from any Blue Dragon member from this point forward would be considered an act of war and would be retaliated in full military strength.
Texas agreed and said that the same went from them and we were happy with the seize fire agreement.
The following day however, Bowtress was attacked by some Blue Dragon member (and killed) so I called the alliance to war. We reached DVC to find 2-3 groups of Blue Dragons members, we lined up, cast our buffs and while we were buffing I assigned targets for each member in our combat party. When the buffs had been done a few seconds later, I counted down from 5 and we simply PKed more than half of the Blue Dragons there before they even knew we were starting the fight. The few survivals tried to fight back, but without all their damagedealers it was futile and they all ended up dead. The Blitzkrieg was a success and Hiroki approached me for peace talks. BD were given the same conditions as AZT had been given (no siege interference) and he agreed.

This gave us an uncontested attempt for Aden castle, so with Dominus, Evolution and Evincio alliance, we planned the assault on Aden castle. The plan was an absolute success, and the 239 people that had gathered for the siege on the Ginnunga teamspeak were all howling with joy. We had taken Aden, something that no one had ever done before. A funny tidbit of information was that the teamspeak consumed 5mbit of bandwidth during the siege, god bless Bredbandsbolaget. Since Ginnunga already held Oren, Noods of Forbidden and November of Inquisition made a dice roll for who would claim the castle and Noods won the roll.

There was a video made of the siege called Aden Falls and it can be found here.

After the siege an Interview was made with Noods via e-mail, but since he was less than savy with expressing himself in english, I answered the e-mail in his name. (Uneducated dwarf). The interview can be found here.

About the alliance
The Uprising alliance consists of the two clans Reborn and Enmity.

Who are the leaders
The alliance is officially led by Ormjaevel, but the leadership is shared between the clan leaders and their slave helpers.

Public rules / political stance?

Quick history of the two guilds
Enmity was formed from the guild Vindication which disbanded when the leader gsebi stopped playing. Vindication in turn was an offspring from Feral Uprising (Led by Dragon aka Nightrainn) which in turn was an offspring from The Combine after they officially left the game (Deyth aka Seytun quit). You could trace the heritage of the clan a bit differently if you wished, feel free to correct me if you feel that I am wrong.

Reborn was formed from Ginnunga by Cogency after Ernesto (Leader of Ginnunga) left the game due to the simple fact that back then, transfer of clan leadership was not possible, so to change the guildleader, the clan had to be reformed. Reborn is now led by Cogency and his advisor EverGlade.

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft

Ginnunga has been active on 3 different servers so far in World of Warcraft.

It started with Horde side on Stormreaver server (PvP) which is the most active faction with best progress.

In the fall 2005 another faction was started on the Alliance side of the Bloodhoof server (PvE). This section continued until summer 2007 when it was merged with Axiom Knights into the new guild Chimera.

During the winter 2007 a new faction was started on the Alliance side of Nordrassil server (PvE). This section currently consist mostly of people from the old Bloodhoof section.

Sword of the new world

Sword of the new world

We played this game during the open beta and a few weeks into release. We had high expectations for the game and Ginnunga was formed by Gromk the day the servers opened. The version of SotNW that was released lacked alot of the features that Granado Espada had on the original servers, so the interest for the game faded within our comunity, when there was no colony wars or other PvP except for the AM tournaments.

There were major flaws in the PvP system of this game, the major and gamebreaking one being that when you flagged yourself as a PKer, you were also hostile to your guild and group.

This did not stop Glorious leader Ernesto and PKer extraordinaire Cogency to purchase 24h access to the best levelling grounds in the game, and then promply PKing everyone in there. This naturally led to some enormous rage on the server since apparently the alliance of carebears had flagged the zone offlimits for PKing, since it was a pay-to-play area. You do not have to guess many times that we simply bought ourselves another round of access and killed even more.

As of may 2008 some of us are back in action in this very unique MMO and have teamed up with the Unforgiven clan and by now colony wars and the likes was fully in place. We totally dominated everything to a degree that made the server a wasteland for meaningful PvP. Domination and the boredom it brings has always been our greatest enemy, so after a few weeks of trying to pick fights and PKing people into rage, we just simply retired again from this interesting, but flawed game.

Aoc

Aoc

The beta and promo videos of this game were not impressive to us. Nevertheless, a small number of our playerbase wanted to play the game, so we allowed them to flag up with the guildname.

The game was as predicted a massive failiure and we dissolved the section in a month due to extremely low interest, no regular leader in game, as well as just a horrible game.

War

War

Having more than a few members that started their MMO careers in DAoC, we were excited to be playing another Mythic MMO.

After participating in the guild beta, we were eagerly anticipating launch. The game showed great promise. We chose Karak-Hirn as our home server, and there we found a fantastic community of friends and foes.We created the legendary and marvellous Ineffables alliance, with the Phoenix and Renegade legions.

After many awesome battles, pairing crashes due to fortress raids, server chrashes, punting people into the lava of Tor Anroc, being punted into the lava of Tor Anroc, Cogency owning the enemy realm lord(depicted below), legendary warfront fights against Explicit Content and other assorted badassery, we were told that Hirn would be shut down. We were being forcibly evicted from this heaven of a server.

Cogency owns the Elf King in Warhammer

We were then shipped off to Karak-Norn. There, we found even more server lag. Even more pairing crashes, and even more of all the things that made the game such a huge disappointment. While we did not lose faith immediately, eventually the technical issues with the game bled us dry, and we retired the Warhammer section of the guild.
Thank you, Mythic. You fucking wankers.

Here are som statistics proving how awesome we were.

Aion

Aion

We had a massive launch for Aion, our highest membercount in any gamelaunch - Everyone were quite hyped up after our great success in Warhammer as well as enormous hopes that there would not again be such a huge debaucle as the Warhammer endgame.

It didn't take until our first siege to be proved so horribly horribly wrong. The game was a 32bit application without proper memorydumps, so on a 64bit system when the game tried to use more than 2gb of RAM, it promptly crashed you to desktop.

Add the massive amount of crashes with the fact that client FPS was attrocious during large sieges, we knew we were in for a hard time.

Those of us who were old grinders didn't mind the harsh levelling curve, but the more modern players in our guild wasn't liking the situation very much. Add to that the fact that PvP was rather meaningless when it came to farming PvP points, as well as the quite difficult aerial combat (Dredgion was OK) for melee classes, it was just a disaster.

We capped a few keeps, then just called it quits, the long grinds and the poor FPS in sieges just did it for us, our worst Warhammer nightmares just came back.

Ddo

Ddo

Inbetween games we took a stab at the old game Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Calyn held a diary of our adventure there.

The Diary of Ginnunga in DDO - by Calyn

Day 1: Rolled a bard. Seems fun. Dungeons are fun but mobs a bit easy at this level. Ern is afk.

Day 1: Kunasha logged in really late, apparently he is trying to impregnate his wife so she will finally agree to marry him. Calyn broke something on the game server.

Day2: I ar so strong, I got some +1 Battleaxe from the Ern and it is very gut. This is best game ever, I will play it for the next 5 years. Ern is afk.

Day3: Getting moar awesome each day. Traps are lol. Very long extreme difficulty dungeons are very long and extreme difficult. Ern is afk.

Day4: Cog almost broke his VIP account. Ern led us to some nasty undead-infested place starting with "D", died instantly and I had to drag two miserable bodies through the whole instance killing all that nasty stuff by myself. I think he is afk now, not sure, most of the group seems to be.

Day4, second entry: We were doing elite adventures today and had the most fun OF OUR ENTIRE LIVES. There were roughly 50 Ginnungas online all being heroic in different dungeons. Then I was mean to Ern and when I came back from a 20 minute afk, no one was there. If anyone finds out which game they are playing now, please tell me.

Day 5: Group Fail is back in action and doing some elite dungeons with hirelings! Cog is very useful and an acceptable addition to the group. Ern pulled the plug when called out about being the source of all mean.

Day 5 entry 2: We went into The Pit today. We had no clue what to do, so I looked it up on the wiki. It read:

"This quest is one of the most tricky ones in the game. Can be painfully long, if you don't know what you are doing. Take a good read at the following before entering the dungeon!."

So we recalled.

Then we went to the Blood Road. It said it was a "Extreme Challenge Dungeon" Level 8 and a balanced party was recommended. We were 3 dps lvl 5-6. So we recalled.

Day 6: The holiday is having a big impact on Group Fail. Cog is pretending to have RL and Drexa is having an identity crisis with his warrior. We got some wiping done earlier today though, so the day was still a success. Ern is not afk. But he is too busy making a fortune on the auction house to be of any use.

Day 7: Undeads. Lots. Ghosts. Hate them. We drowned today Sad. Still BEST GAME EVER.

Day 8: So much hate. We did some really nice places that didn't have any undead, but then we got into this really hard dungeon and we had almost finished but there is so much rage now because Cog is angry. He also doesn't bring his own potions/wands. We should send him to the Stormreaver Training Camp.

Day 9: Server down for maintenance. They are probably reloading all the traps that we triggered this past week. Ern is pig. And not the good kind of pig that tastes yummy. The kind of pig that makes the whole team reroll.

Day 9 entry 2: Maintenance has been extended multiple times. According to officials, trap triggering has been unusually high during the last week and they are still in the process of reloading them all. I have been using that time wisely to look up builds in case we are really rerolling. I will be a 2barb/2bard/2cleric/2fighter/2monk/2paladin/2ranger/2rogue/2 sorc/2wiz.

Day 11: Rerolled Sorcerer, I blame Ern for that because he decided to destroy the A-Team, Drexa also played a part. Sorcs are imba. 2 Sorcs are double imba, we just charm the whole dungeon and run through - as long as they are not undead, which we all know are all mid-level dungeons...

There is no entry for Day 10 because there was some huge nerd rage, and since drama is content that is exclusive to VIPs, you must play DDO if you want to know what happened.

Day 13: Yeah I skipped Day 12 I think. Was boring. But today we did an epic questline and at the end we had to fight a mean fire reaver boss. Ern, being the baller that he is, ran in and told us to stand back. Fighting the beast alone he threw up a barrier to keep us out of danger and proceeded to battle for 5 minutes, striking blow after blow. When his barrier finally collapsed the rest of the group could enter the battle and one-shot the boss with frost magics, after Ern had heroicly brought him to 95% HP. He is afk now.

Day 15: I spent the whole Day 14 thinking about what class to play and today I went back to my bard because it is better than both Cog and Drexa combined. Cog is currently writing a letter to Wizards of the Coast, complaining that ogres look nothing like Shrek. A bunch of very strong players joined us today, we can start raiding soon. Looking forward to earning those DK... ähm GPS points. Ernesto has been absent for hours.

Day 15 entry 2: WE FOUND A MOTHERFUCKING RESORT SPA. Lady Cogril is giving me a massage at this very moment. I'm nakid. She is still refusing to take her clothes off, but I mixed something in her drink, just a matter of time.

Day 16: My bard rocks. I just destroyed an airship that attacked house D and had a nice boss fight, should've done this quest earlier though as it was a bit too easy. Sorry for spoilers :P Drexa has been incredibly nice today on guild chat on his fighter. Ern is MIA. Weaksauce.

Day 16, 2: Cog just clocked Coyle over the head for his own good.

Day 17: Five unguarded chests are too good to be true. The floor collapsed. Threnal sucks btw, don't go there. Samuel Merrik is a huge incompetent dick. I HATE THIS FUCKING DUNGEON THERE ARE OOZES EVERYWHERE AND IT'S HUGE AND YOU HAVE TO RUN MILES TO REDO IT AND BEHOLDERS ONESHOT YOU IF YOU DONT HAVE DEATHBLOCK RAAAGE

Day 17, 2: We emerged victorious, but we don't plan on going back there. At least I got a new cloak, it grants me true sight because the original two dungeon masters are guiding me. Yay.

Day 18: There was some emo earlier today it was pretty nice because I got to emo which is rare but it felt really good. Then we did the Shadow Crypt which was really confusing but I lucked out and found the last room and then I could just wait 15 minutes and scratch my balls while I waited for the rest of the group to find the way. It is hard to adapt to this game coming from WoW, by the way, because here you actually have to stand IN the fire.

Day 18, 2: Beholders are awesome:
Open door -> (Combat): You were killed by something.

Not gonna touch any doors anymore. Could be a beholder on the other side.

Day 21: (Guild): The guild's Message of the Day is:
Pregnesto was here

Day 21, 2: Ernesto just found us two random people to group with that were supposed to be really good and show us how to play. They were older than Ernesto and it really showed. In the future I will bitch less about our fail group if in return I never have to play with randoms again.

Day 23: Today's entry won't end with Ernesto being afk - it will start with it. While doing this awesome dungeon where Ernesto only had but one responsibility (pulling a lever once the rest of the group was inside a room where we were fighting super evil boss monsters while Ern waited outside, rinse and repeat) he went afk. So we all gathered inside one of the rooms, waiting for Ernesto to activate it from outside, but nothing happened although we repeatedly asked him on teamspeak to start. Turns out he was afk. So everyone started tabbing out, doing other stuff, while we waited for Ern to come back.

When he finally came back he did what he was supposed to do. Without telling us that he was about to spawn a very angry boss mob on top of us. While everyone was tabbed out. So when we heard the screams of our characters dying in agony, we realized that Ernesto had come back and wiped us. Then there was much rage. The end.

Day 24: Freed some elf slave from a curse ... which was then put on myself and blinded me for the rest of the dungeon because I took off my blindness immunity googles at the wrong time. Cog took me by the hand and guided me to almost certain doom, so I tabbed out instead, waiting for the others to complete the dungeon so I get xp. No loot for me QQ.

Day 24,2: I just lowered a bridge when the rest of the group was still on it. Drexa was not pleased.

Day 26: Cog and Ern went raiding without me. I quit.

Rift

Rift

Rift was a great game. It was polished and ran well on the machines, had copied nearly everything good in WoW pretty much straight off and added a few extra nice features.

Sounds like the bomb and a game that we could give a stab at. Problem was, the PvP had very little, to no meaning after max PvP rank. Add to that some pretty flawed mechanics, like only the first one to attack an enemy player was the only one that got rewarded, and so forth.

We had tons of fun in the scenarios and for sure quite a few great fights in the open world, but since there was such low PvP activity, we went and did something silly: We started raiding PvE content.

It went well, we were clearing content in a decent pace, the main problem was, just like in any WoW clone, the fact that the raids were designed for 10 or 20 people. What do you do when you have 27 online, or 15? Our membership steadily declined as people lost interest after they had maxed out their PvP ranks and when we could no longer muster 20 man raids whenever we wanted, we simply decided to abandon the game.

Star Wars The Old Republic

Star Wars The Old Republic

We knew from the start that SWTOR was mostly a single player game with a few MMO elements tossed into it. We figured we'd give it a go anyways, and then the PvP zone Illum started lagging just like in Warhammer, or Aion, or vanilla WoW, so then we quite promply quit, after beating the PvE content.

The best thing with SWTOR was by far hutball which we quickly learned to master and it was a very refreshing take on battlegrounds/scenarios in an MMO.
