Let's get back to games, then.
Comparing retail games to a movie ticket is not a bullet-proof point. My equivalent to watching a film in the cinema would be going to the arcade, an actual experience you share with other people.
Games function pretty much exactly like DVDs, a physical carrier for a digital "experience". And DVDs can be resold, as far as I'm aware.


I would also challenge your notion of digital products not degrading - true, their lifecycles might be longer and potentially endless, but they're just as subjected to the passing of time and the fast-moving technological evolution. Try selling your used Windows Vista copy to someone.
These frequent iterations are most likely in existence precisely because your point is very true, however.



If the games industry really needs to enforce totalitarian DRM systems to meet their ridiculous production cost break-even points, then it's already too big for its own good and should go down in a big fire. When consumer rights and freedoms are cut to keep a system growing and running, something's wrong. At least as far as I'm concerned.


Then again, can't say that I've ever bought or sold a used game.

And now with the extra fee for second hand games, it is more expensive a while after release eventhough there are (most probably) new releases of that genre. Why would I pay a fee on top of the second-hand price on something that is absolutely not new anymore?

a. This won't result in a sudden increase of profits for companies (which means it won't result in better games, more games etc)

b. It decreases the value of games because a seller will just have to eat whatever this fee is when they sell their games. It's an easier decision to spunk £40 on the latest CoD because you can sell it for £30 the next day (it's only 6 hours long anyway) but now you'll lose even more.

c. It decreases choice, these days I like to rent games because buying a new game is just an expensive way to take up more shelf space but with this system I can't rent games.

d. It's less fun, you can't share your games with your friends. I used to do this a lot when I was back in school and it was fun, this effectively kills that unless the fee is insignificant. Mandatory Kinect usage is also a little disturbing. The camera is listening out for you even when it's "off" (it's never really off), and while Microsoft has issued a statement saying it has "strong privacy protections" in place, people are still rightly concerned that a machine -connected to the internet and featuring a camera which is always listening - might be a problem.

Even people in the military commented on the online activation, because when they are abroad (they do play games) they dont have the internet to activate their (new) lil game when they are on a ship or some far foreign country. It's a worrying trend, publishers and hardware manufacturers who assume that the internet is fully functioning and prevalent wherever you may be in the world.

Personally I think it's bad, the second hand market is good for customers, this just means you're going to lose out if you try selling a game in the future and what happens when the service gets discontinued? You just stop being able to play games on the console?

However, a software license has a much longer half-life, especially if it is a product that keeps being patched and supported.

That could then mean, that let's say Kunasha buys a database engine, uses it for 6 years for his super blog. Now he doesn't wanna run the blog any more, or change his database engine or whatever.

He could then sell his license of the database engine for the same price that he bought it - The product has not been degraded, it is even most likely much much better than when he bought it.

So, he sells it for the same price, and he has been able to use the product "for free" for 6 years, due to the nature of software.

That is super cool for Kunasha for sure, but it means that the next database engine, will cost twice as much, if not more.


Not a totally solid argument I guess, but just trying to point out the problem here.

My wife bought a SGS4 already, well I bought it for her but anyway... I don't really like it. It is pretty much the same as SGS2 but with a better camera.

Gz, well what i have seen you play alone... maybe try go boom in pulic games the rest 20 paragons, its really fast, specially in MP10 after 1.08 patch, with "strenght in numbers" buff you get 800% xp in 4 player party (mp10).

Still got 35lvls to go with my WD, and get 1,8 paragon level each full act clear MP8, wich takes depending on players 2-3h.

But anyways know what you mean, getting bored myself too.

Animation and drawings are top-notch. The music is also very good, often epic. Even if you don't like animes in general, I think you might like it. I recommended it to a friend who usually despise anime, and he watches the show every week now.
