Ginnunga is an online gaming guild based in Europe which was formed in 1999 with focus on MMOs. We have a basic set of rules and morals that guides our behaviour, regardless of which game we play and our motto has always been that we should have fun together. This does however not mean that we are just a family guild. We play to win - not always to be the best, but we are quite aware of quality, not just in personality and behaviour, but also in game excellence. We are currently playing Guild Wars 2 on Blackgate and WoW on Nordrassil
I present to you, the ultimate homage to the great Tlith, a.k.a The destroyer of Volcanos, Ruiner of vacations, Grounder of airplanes, but most of all he is known as The Man With The Hat(tm).
The original masterpiece, featuring the The Tlith himself, sporting his most glorious creation:
Ginnunga has landed on Freedon Nadd. We had very few who got in for the early access since we originally didn't intend to play swtor. We did however, change our minds, so now we rolled out our lightsabers and coffee-can voices and prepared to take on the good guys. Being an Empire guild will be interesting, we are a bit worried about the population imbalance still.
It has been decided that we will stick to playing Empire on the Tomb of Freedon Nadd server.
It is quite clear that the Empire side outnumbers the Republic side, but we are hoping it will even out a little bit more.
Not only do we get to play with a bunch of our good friends in the Renegade Legion, but there are some known names on the opposing side, which feels good, just hoping that the server imbalance will not be detrimental to open world PvP.
This is the first time Ginnunga will play on a side that is not outnumbered, so it will be an interesting experience. Since we have previously been spoiled with pretty much always being able to find a fight, our greatest fear is naturally not being able to find good opposition.
We are truly hoping that the Freedon Nadd server will be a great home for our guild in Star Wars: The Old Republic!
Incase you missed it! Lucas Arts, Bioware & EA are releasing this small new franchise called Star Wars: The Old Republic. The first footage we saw a while back left most of us with one thought; omajged that looks horrible. Which resulted in most of us not paying alot of attention to the game, until we got our hands on some keys for the current beta weekend.
We were surprised, ofcourse it's not the most exciting MMO that we are all are waiting and hoping for with all kinds of new funky stuff that will leave us flabbergasted buttttt...this turned out better then expected. It is a real story-driven mmoRPG tho, which means there is ALOT of RPG blablablabla & blabla going on, every time you talk with someoen there is some cutscene with voiceacting and fancy conversation options. Awesome for the little roleplayer that is hiding inside all of us, horrible for the hardcore dork that wants to race to max level. The graphics are somewhat cartoon'ish, I've been told it is somewhat in the same style as that series "The Clone Wars", its nothing fancy but doesnt look bad at all, I'm hoping this will result in epic settings that would normally with 'Battlefield3 like' graphics be to hard for most computers. The combat was what surprised me the most, I didnt look at any video's or anything before I started to play but when I started to play and especially later on when you get your lightsaber and others have their big laser guns it really feels like Star Wars, you have the lightsaber and laser gun sounds blasting out of speakers while the things seem to go mental on your screen while your charackter jumps, flies and runs from one scumbag to another, which makes it look really action packed. I sorta made it to lvl17 and felt the game only got better, so that is a good sign. Lets hope we'll have something to do when we are max level.
Anyway! We decided that Ginnunga as a guild will also have a go at SWTOR. The game seems fun and entertaining and will keep some of us busy again for some time. So check back to see what side and server we are going!
For now, here is a small little movie I made.
We played EverQuest on the Mithaniel Marr server.
We played DAoC on the Kay server.
We played Lineage II on the Bartz server.
Bloodhoof was our PvE alternative to Stormreaver.
We played Aion on Perento.
We played on Karak-Hirn but later forced to move to Karak-Norn
Nordrassil is our more casual alternative to Stormreaver
High attendance raiding alternative to casual Nordrassil.
Rift was mostly PvE focused due to the design of the game.
