About the MMO guild Ginnunga

- Who we are
Ginnunga is an online gaming guild based in Europe which was formed in 1999 with focus on MMOs. We have a basic set of rules and morals that guides our behaviour, regardless of which game we play and our motto has always been that we should have fun together. This does however not mean that we are just a family guild. We play to win - not always to be the best, but we are quite aware of quality, not just in personality and behaviour, but also in game excellence. We are currently playing Guild Wars 2 on Blackgate and WoW on Nordrassil

Attachment: Click to view full-sizeWhat's you character name and how did you come up with it?
My characters name is Argee. I shortened it to Argee from Reapergrim. Reapergrim. RG. Argee. Get it?
I changed it because most people didn't get that Reapergrim was, in fact, tongue-in-cheek. I made a hunter named Reapergrim in DAoC. Back then, most stealthers were named HunterKillerHellfire. And CyberScreamDarkBlade. So Reapergrim seemed appropriate.

How old are you?
33 years ancient.

Where do you live?
De Kwakel in the Netherlands.

What MMO do you play at the moment?
RIFT.

Any other games currently?
I don't really have time for other games at the moment. I sometimes start Dragon Age 2. I am planning on playing Portal 2. When Bioshock: Infinite releases, I will be dead to the world until I have finished it.

What was your first computer game ever?
The first video game I remember playing was one of those Tennis games you attach to your tv. With the twisty knobs. The first one on a proper computer was a game in BASIC my dad copied manually from a computer magazine on his VIC-20.

What was your first multiplayer online experience?
I think it was the original Quakeworld Team Fortress. But it might have been Quake 2. I don't remember if I only played TF in LAN.

What was your first MMO?
My first MMO experience was being shown Ultima Online by a regular at a computer cafe I used to go to. He helped a friend and me make characters on the same server as him, and he guided us through the starter area. He made a point of telling us that those superduper powerful characters that had set up a tent outside the first dungeon would have killed us and corpsecamp us indefinitely if we had not been with him.
I didn't continue playing UO.

My first MMO proper was DAoC. Consequently I think that every other faction based pvp game I have played have done it wrong by only having 2 player factions.

What is your favorite snack while gaming?
The Cookie. Chocolate Chip or Oreo.

When/How did you join Ginnunga?
Early 2002, I seem to recall. I think I got invited because two of my real life friends were in Ginnunga then. Zlorf and Jaer.

Tell us your most memorable mmo moment?
Why, meeting the love of my life in Warhammer ofcourse. My beloved. My darling. My dove. She is my muse, my flame.

Other than that, the memory that has stayed with me the longest was a relic raid in DAoC. We were running an Alb relic back, and came upon a milegate heavily camped by Hibs wanting to steal it off us. I remember popping sos, and sprinting for the gate to click it open so the people behind me would not be slowed down. It worked. We got slaughtered, but managed to get the relic through. That was pretty awesome.

Tell us something nobody in the guild knows about you.
I am actually very idealistic and sentimental. It's true! I only ACT cynical and bitter! It's a mask I put on, to protect the little fluffy and vulnerable pink bunny inside!

Well Blizzard strikes again with the hotfixes, I'm glad we managed to down Omnomnomtron before they nerfed the fight into the ground. That's not to say the core of the fight is gone, it's still there but it's more like a snack you can finish in a couple of bites compared to the previous hearty brunch it was beforehand.

Ok ok no more food anologies, this is wearing a little thin, we also downed Magmaw! Unfortunately given that we spent something like 3 hours on it in total it's probably not too challenging a fight overall now but I'd rather look at this as us getting the focus we need back to start making some headway with the heroics especially after an awful end to Sundays raid when networking problems forcing us to end over 30+ minutes early. More good news soon, I promise.

In other news we also killed Conclave, hooray! While Reck would be reassuring me statistically this is the 3rd easiest boss I would respond with it's a giant pain in the arse I never want to put up with again. Kinda like Obsidian Sanctum 3 Drakes but without the fun and loot and stuff... Did I mention I hate this fight?

Attachment: Click to view full-sizeWhat's you character name and how did you come up with it?

My character name is "Kolapz". I've used a myriad of online aliases in the past. The first name I used online was "Geez" or "Jeez", I don't really remember how or why I started using it. When I started playing Warhammer Online, I made an elf character named "Aeldir" which I later, when we merged with another server, changed into what I'm using today - "Kolapz", since I needed a more lollerkiddy name for myself.

How old are you?

I am 22 years old.

Where do you live?

I live in the suburb area of Zagreb, Croatia.

What MMO do you play at the moment?

None at the moment, unfortunately. I do plan to start playing Rift fairly soon, though.

Any other games currently?

Heroes of Newerth mainly. I also played quite a bit of Football Manager 2011 and Super Meat Boy recently.

What was your first computer game ever?

The first computer I had was a Schneider CPC464. It used freaking tapes, how awesome was that? I don't really remember any of the games I played on it though. After that I got a NES and the first games I remember playing on it (can't really point my finger at the very first one) are the likes of Bomberman, Snake Rattle 'n Roll, Ice Climber, Excitebike, Duck Hunt, Battletoads and Contra. Then eventually I got a SNES and as far as I recall spent most my time playing F-Zero and Contra III.

What was your first multiplayer online experience?

My first multiplayer online experience was playing Warcraft III via BattleNet.

What was your first MMO?

My first MMO was the best game ever. It's a Korean grinder named The Legend of Ares. The game had a 150 level cap and every 10 levels or so you would get a new skill. All the skills did was deal damage and the new skill was always better than the previous one. There was no global cooldown or cooldown on skills and potions so all you did while fighting is hold down the right click to spam the best skill you have while spamming another hotkey to heal up with potions. Back then I thought it was awesome, but in reality, the person that had more potions equipped won in a 1v1 PvP situation. However, I was very proud because I got into the best guild on the server I played on. It was called Reborn and I made some good friends there which I was in contact with for a few years before we drifted apart.

What is your favorite snack while gaming?

I have a "no eating while at computer" policy because I like my keyboard and mouse clean and shiny, not greasy and shiny. So no snacks for me. Any kind of juice or beer is fine though.

When/How did you join Ginnunga?

I joined Ginnunga in Warhammer about two years ago. I didn't have a guild/clan at that point in time, but I was fairly well known on the server and had a few of them that wanted to recruit me cause I'm like the best player ever. However, Ginnunga was the best one on the server and I didn't want to settle for anything less. I was talking every now and then with Ernesto about the situation in the RvR zones etc. Then I started joining Ginnunga warbands when they had a slot open for myself and got a feeling of what they're all about while listening to them on Teamspeak. So since everything seemed fine, and more than that, I decided it's time to make an application and two years later, I'm still here.

Tell us your most memorable MMO moment?

So many epic stuff happened so it's hard to choose one. Running around the RvR zones with full Ginnunga warbands in Warhammer was pretty awesome. Killing destros, defending and attacking keeps, city sieges, etc. Especially when we were heavily outnumbered (which was often) but still managed to defeat them.

Tell us something nobody in the guild knows about you.

I am a very depressed person.

Good work to everyone that showed up for our first Omnotron 25 heroic kill and welcome to the new trials that have joined recently.

I don't have much to say on the fight, the difficulty was just about right for this level of content but these kind of fights are always a little annoying when one person can just destroy the entire raid without trying too hard.

Videos to follow as soon as Ultimate fixes his Russian computer and we'll be aiming for a Conclave kill before the week is out.

Thank you Ultimate for supplying this lovely rendition of our first Atramedes heroic kill. The likeness is uncanny and I will come to rely on your artistic talent in the future.

I think this was our 2nd raid day on this guy but I do regret putting it off for so long, while he's not a complete push over and seeing the raid explode into a million glittery pieces while you're barely getting warmed up is a little demoralising it's also quite rewarding to see how quickly the raid can organise itself and take a fight seriously.

Good work guys, next stop... Conclave if I can stop myself vomitting all over Rohash or perhaps Omnotron... Tune in next time to find out. Also Holy Paladins, send in those apps.
