About the MMO guild Ginnunga

- Who we are
Ginnunga is an online gaming guild based in Europe which was formed in 1999 with focus on MMOs. We have a basic set of rules and morals that guides our behaviour, regardless of which game we play and our motto has always been that we should have fun together. This does however not mean that we are just a family guild. We play to win - not always to be the best, but we are quite aware of quality, not just in personality and behaviour, but also in game excellence. We are currently playing Guild Wars 2 on Blackgate and WoW on Nordrassil

Way back when Marvel still produced good quality magazines i found a guy named Charnel, he was some awesome badguy (was only in one mag sadly) that got his nuts caved in by the local gang of heroes, the name just embedded itself in my head and became my choice when i started playing MMO's.

How old are you?
33, although when asked i can't really remember, it usually ends up with me thinking i'm 32 and getting corrected by my woman.

Where do you live?
In the world capital of Östersund.

What MMO do you play at the moment?
Ashamed to say WoW, i blame Marzak.

Any other games currently?
Transformice! Looking forward to maybe playing Shadow Cities as it rolls out, i'm atleast going to check it out.

What was your first computer game ever?
Jesus.. me being such an old fart makes you think back, there were hardly any computers around when i was little but around 10-12 years we got an Amiga 500 and the first game i can really remember playing first is Custodian, it was also a really crappy game and we paid like 80sek for it.

What was your first multiplayer online experience?
My first MMO experience has to be different MUD's and if we're not counting that my first experience with a "proper" mmo was sitting at Jens "Fjording" Andersson's place watching him play Everquest

What was your first MMO?
Everquest, i struggled like a madman to join Ginnunga already there but ended up going through hell levels all on my own since Nordstierna wasn't exactly raid active.

What is your favorite snack while gaming?
Beer counts as snacks.

When/How did you join Ginnunga?
I joined the ranks of Ginnunga back when Dark Age of Camelot was released, i think i was around level 8 when i got the popup to join in.

Tell us your most memorable mmo moment?
There's so many memorable moments, the one that really sticks out (although a bit fuzzy around the edges) has to be when Ginnunga was exping in Malmö. (yes, the DAoC zone, not the place where they speak danish)
I had picked up a bottle of Famous Grouse cause my previous experiences with Whisky(and -ey) had been shotglasses being downed and not drinking it properly so i wanted to learn to drink whisky properly.
The night's progression into Malmö prompted for more and more whisky since my taste buds found a liking to the flavor and as the exping progressed Snyggve got fed up with pulling mobs all the time.
In a real Ginnungian move i prompted that i could pull, since i had very much experience of it (none) and i could take a real beating if the mobs decided to keep liking me when reaching everyone else (caster armour/hp, alcohol infused delirium of might).
So i picked up the slack Snyggve left and got to work, pulling one pack of four werewolves and running back over and over. Ernesto however was not amused and thought i lacked speed when pulling even though i pulled as fast as Snyggve, the bastard must have known i was drunk and goaded me into pulling more mobs at the same time, this time two packs of four.
Memories kinda fade in and out about the outcome but i believe that atleast half the raid was alive after the fourth double pack was killed, Marzak almost shit his pants cause he was probably 50hp from dying, with a mob hitting on him when he dinged.
Personally i lived through the whole ordeal.

Tell us something nobody in the guild knows about you.
When i walk behind slow moving people i secretly want to hit them in the back of the head.

AKA Lich King 25 heroic AKA Worlds slowest kill AKA Don't delete this image Ernesto AKA Hooray!

A very late kill but a lot of fun nonetheless, congratulations to everyone who was there. This took us around 20 hours of banging our heads against a very large and painful wall that consisted of shadow traps and defiles, my only regret is we weren't able to achieve this before all the other class changes came in but as the saying goes any landing you can walk away from.

Many thanks to Arcaos for the assist in the kill. Now, onwards to Cataclysm.

The name i'm currently using is Elenion. I came up with it some years ago. I was playing in a full role play server of lineage 2 (with Darrier. Good times), and I wanted to play a spellsinger. Since i really don't know anything about elfs in lineage, i opened a random page in Tolkien's Silmarillion and took the word with the best sound. That was Elenion (later I found that the meaning of the word in the current lenguage is "of the stars"), since then i use to call all my elven chars Elenion. I joined the guild while playing my awesome swordmaster in war, that was named Elenion and since then i use to call all my char with the same name (maybe with some change, like Hellenion. That was awesome)

How old are you?

i'm 22.

Where do you live?

Italy, Vicenza (north east). a city near Venice.

What MMO do you play at the moment?

not playing any mmo atm. Not playing anything tbh, since i'm very busy with study. just some single player game from time to time. Also there are no mmorpg atm that looks good to me atm, but i'm waiting for the next big mmo to play with the guild.

Any other games currently?

Fallout new vegas

What was your first computer game ever?

Monkey island for amiga. One of the best games ever.

What was your first multiplayer online experience?

Lineage 2 in a unofficial italian server. I started to play with Darrier, like 5-6 yars ago. I used to play A LOT in that days, since school was easy enough to let me play from 6 to 8 hours every day. I remember it was compeltely diffenet from single player games: I wasn't playing with npcs, but with other players in a world that could completely change from a day to the next one. I found it amazing, different from any other game i already have experienced.

Lineage 2, c1

What is your favorite snack while gaming?

I usually don't eat snacks while playing, but if i do i like to eat yogurt and icecreams

When/How did you join Ginnunga?

2 years ago i think, back in warhammer days

Tell us your most memorable mmo moment?

There many memorable moments, but i think the best with ginnunga were

1) a day in warhammer when we decided to do a full ginnunga warband.
A full evening of pvp, there is also a movie about that in the forum. We killed and got killed a lot, but very good fun. This was a good experience, but the most epic moment was indeed another one:

2) Always in war, we had a group with me (bright wizard), Argee (wich hunter), Raynolf (archmage). Polluxia (Archmage), Darrier (knight of the blazing sun), and Hellraiser (Bright wizard, he's not in the guild anymore since he emoraged and got kicked). We stormed out from chaos wastes warcamp, surrounded by enemies (a lot of enemies), and we just started to bomb (using aoe close range skills with wizards), and keep moving forward while burning everything down. After a couple of minutes, we got from our warcamp to destruction's warcamp, and casualties of war was scoring something like 100 kills for us and 5 kills for enemies (stupid pugs). None of us died. Indeed that was an easy victory, since we were using the most op classes in the game, but still, it was so epic.

Tell us something nobody in the guild knows about you.

I love to rollerblade, which is considered a not-so-manly activity in Italy, but still, I love the women, so I don't see it as a problem :|

Well, since I know Raynolf and Darrier irl, i can't really tell you something they don't know, bsut I can tell that i love use rollerblade, wich is considered a very manlove activity. Still, I love women, so i don't see it as a problem :|

The image with my face completely blooded comes from an halloween party of 5 years ago, i'm not that young anymore. And i have a lesser amount of hair :(

Takyn and Ernesto somehow managed to work together, and the results proved spectacular. A dev tracker was added to the already impressive Rift:Planes of Telara fansite Rift-News.com. You can find it here:

http://www.rift-news.com/index.php/devtracker/

There is also a RSS feed available of the tracker for those who prefer that and it's available at:

Enjoy!

Polling the elderly.

To find out, I created a rudimentary poll and half of the guildmembers bothered to vote in it, so we'll assume this is roughly correct, give or take a couple of years. We seem to have plenty of them, so it won't matter much.

Average age of the guild.

If you add up all those numbers, you will find that the average age is just above 29. This would mean I am just above the average and we cannot have that, so from now on we will set the minimum age to 40+

Random text since the image was long.

Since the image was really tall and it sort of speaks for itself, it doesn't need much text. However, since it looks rather stupid with all the white space right next to it, I am going to fill this in with ramblings about the white space and how I have to fill it. This is most likely more entertaining than the poll itself, but this is totally ok and nothing to be sad about. We should also notice the awesome little detail I added under the latest movies listed at the bottom in the right hand menu. So pretty. I am great.

Attachment: Click to view full-sizeWhat's you character name and how did you come up with it?
-My original character in WoW was called Shades for the simple reason that he was a rogue and rogues are shady characters.

How old are you?
-Twentysix and a half

Where do you live?
-In Southern Finland, just below the polar bear habitats.

What MMO do you play at the moment?
-World of Warcraft. I played Final Fantasy 11 for a bit before and considering trying out the hideously unfinished FF14.

Any other games currently?
-Fallout 3, occasionally Starcraft 2 and a bit of Age of Empires 3. Tried out Torchlight as well.

What was your first computer game ever?
-I think that would be Giana Sisters. Can't be sure though as I was around 6-7 at the time and had no idea what I was playing. If it wasn't that, it could have been Space Hulk.

What was your first multiplayer online experience?
-Starcraft was the first game I ever played online. I remember my hands shaking when playing the first match against a random real person.

What was your first MMO?
-If Neverwinter Nights can be classified as an MMO it'll be that. After NWN I moved on to WoW which certainly would be called an MMO.

What is your favorite snack while gaming?
-Nacho Cheezeballs, popcorn or salted pretzels.

When/How did you join Ginnunga?
-In 2006 I joined the WoW section of the guild with my rogue.

Tell us your most memorable mmo moment?
-There are way too many... It ranges from duoing one of the most difficult 8 man raids in NWN and having a DM spawn extra monsters on us to stop us, to first killing Lucifron in Molten Core. Still I'd have to probably go for the moment I got the second binding of the windseeker, and knew I'd be finishing the Thunderfury questline.

Tell us something nobody in the guild knows about you.
-Tough one... I once pooped in a plastic bag and put it in someone's mailbox.

<13:46:19> "WiGgLr / Kunasha" disconnected (leaving)

Kunasha left Teamspeak to go to his wedding ceremony that takes place at 14:00 CET.

We are all really stoked about this marriage thing that he has gone ahead and done, and we are all sad to not hear about his wedding planning on TS anymore after 8 glorious months of selecting cakes, napkins and candles. We will miss these interesting moments in our lives.

Since I am writing this from the future, I am able to present a picture from The Kunashamoon(tm) - Kunashas honeymoon, where he is taking a little dip with someone we believe to be his wife.

Congratulations Kunasha! You are the bomb!
