Ginnunga is an online gaming guild which was formed late 1999 in the game EverQuest by Jhurg (Eyke) and Laurent (Ernesto). We have existed in the online world ever since.
We have a basic set of rules and morals that guides our behaviour, regardless of which game we play and our motto has always been that we should have fun together. This does however not mean that we are just a family guild. We play to win - not always to be the best, but we are quite aware of quality, not just in personality and behaviour, but also in game excellence.
If you wish to know more of our online endevours, you can check out our history although that section is not fully fleshed out.
So after a brutal wipe session we managed to down the last step needed for the 10 man achievement Glory of the Ulduar Raider!
Until Friday we had made no serious attempts at learning Mimiron hard mode and what a stunning fight it turned out to be, this is content as it should be, relentless unforgiving of sloppy play. Why isn't there more like this?
Congratulations to Muuman, Ultimate, Zetzek, Chrys, Fizzul, Legendary, Alowa, Gaman and those who've obtained their rusted Proto Drake. It's good to be able to enjoy the fight before the inevitable nerf opens it up to the rest of the wow population.
We have a video up of the fight, please excuse the music choices I blame the Finns.
After much whining I should also point out that with the Drake reward Muuman has now completed the 100 mount achievement, second that I'm aware of. Congratulations are in order for someone too cheap to buy the mounts before now and I believe he also holds the achievement for most sex changes on one character. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Congratulations to members attending our first Yogg Saron kill, a fun fight which brings back some good memories of the C'thun fight. The fights aren't entirely the same but the major difference in my humble opinion is Yoggy was more forgiving, if you've got the dps and a bit of co-ordination you can recover from your mistakes, try doing that if someone forgets to interrupt a Giant Eye tentacle and it hits a large bunch of people but it's an enjoyable fight and I'm sure hard mode will provide ample challenge.
On that note, with Ulduar now effectively on farm we shall be seriously approaching the hard mode encounters. Wish us luck.
Oh we also killed General (stupidly easy with a DK tank, thanks for learning from Sartharion Blizz) and Mimiron, the real sticking point was Mimiron and that's probably due to the fact in easy mode he's one of the few bosses in Ulduar that has more than say 3 abilities you need to pay attention to. Of course there's been far harder content but when you've just downed 8 or so bosses with the main thing being SEE THAT BIG FIRE? MOVE OUT OF THAT BLOODY FIRE! this fight might throw you at first.
So here we are brand new content and back to the grind! Naturally, we were all excited to return to active raiding unknown content and old faithful Stormreaver delivered in full as usual, repeated crashes and heavy lag were the order of the day.
So far we've downed the following bosses over our normal raiding schedule:
Ignis
Razorscale
XT-002
Kologarn
Assembly of Iron
Auriaya

Freya
Thorim
Hodir
Flame Leviathan

No pictures of Flame Leviathan, Auriaya or Assembly of Iron (they just fell over) but I promise you we did kill them scouts honour! We're now moving onto Mimiron which looks like a fun fight and leans more towards the more interesting kind of fight as you need to think about more than just 2-3 things.
So, yesterday we were out roaming Caledor just after we had locked Dragonwake with the intent of blitzing all the keeps and BOs down as quickly as possible to establish a firm foothold of the zone.
To speed up the keep capture, we decided to send in our witch-hunters, slayers and white lions to bang on the keep lord while we were working on the doors. - A good way to speed up the capture and completely in-line with out goal, to overtake the entire zone as quickly as possible.
Little did we know what the reactions from the pickups and random orders who were in the zone would be! (Click on the images to enlarge them)
We actually didn't anticipate that any other order in the area would not receive any contribution, but naturally, after such a cheerful response to our clever tactic we would NEVER do such a thing again at the next keep. Or well, of course we did, this time not because we needed to, but because if people act like dicks they deserve to be treated like dicks.
Shanda (Nasdaq:SNDA) is advertising open beta testing of its licensed western fantasy MMORPG AION by shedding light on the second-tallest building in Shanghai, according to company news released Saturday. Using hundreds of laser lights, the game's English name is being displayed near the top of the Jin Mao Tower, while its four-character Chinese name runs vertically down the building. The ad, complete with the words "April 8 Shanda begins open beta" along the base of the building, is running from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. April 3 to 12. Source : JLM Pacific Epoch
Well folks, it might be a bit soon to yell victory, but Aion's Open Beta has just started... in China.
As you can see on the attached picture, Aion in China is serious business ! Anyways, it looks like NCSoft are accelerating their planning a bit. If we consider these news from an optimistic point of view, they might start the NA/EU betas sooner as well... We will keep our fingers crossed.
While we're still waiting for this messiah, you can always try to register for this Chinese beta. However, you should be able to speak chinese and/or have a force of will stronger than steel. Well, I guess it won't stop the ones who already tried the Korean one ;)
Speaking of the Korean version, future content additions have been announced in the 1.2 patch notes of the game. New instances dungeons, improvements to the Rift system, and some fluff (new kind of wings !).
You can get more infos and nice pics on Aionsource.
Ginnunga have now completed our last achievement "The Immortal".
This is the hardest raid achievement to get in game atm as you need to clear all of Naxxramas 25 man (all 15 bosses) with none dying on any boss.
We have been trying for this achievement for several months and the nights raid started off badly by losing a person on the very first boss (the Instructor), so we did not kill the boss, everyone wiped and zoned out of Naxx, and we waited 30 mins outside to "soft reset" the zone.
We went in again for round 2 and kept the focus up. We had a disconnect from one member but was during trash, so we continued with 24 raiders and reached the last boss with no one yet dead. The last boss fight was indeed intense, but we kept focused, none made any mistakes and got the job done.
Congratulations to those that just needed "The Immortal" to complete their "Heroic:- Glory of raider" achievement, rewarding them with the rare "Black Proto Drake" 310% flying mount.
We are now done with all achievements, and our remaining time will be spent getting older achievements for those raiders who may have missed some.
Roll on Ulduar, the new raid zone! (several weeks away)
After having a great time on Karak-Hirn, we recieved the news that our server was to be merged with another. Goa decided our server did no longer meet population requirements, and gave us
the choice to move to a selection of higher population servers.
Following deliberation with the major guilds from both Order and Destruction, the choice was made to move to Karak-Norn. We are happy the majority of the community we worked hard to build up is moving with us, and let's hope we can expand that community with the people we find on Norn!
Below is a picture of Order and Destruction players saying goodbye to the our beloved Karak-Hirn server!
Ginnunga have now completed the 25 man achievement on Malygos "Heroic;- You don't have an Eternity", by killing him in 6 mins
Again just like the 10 man achievment this involved, exellent execution, great tanking and very high DPS (we had no choice but to stack ranged classes, but were able to get some of our raiders to respec to ranged dps) and ofc great healing.
We wiped our arses off all day long on sunday, but managed to get the achievment done with 0 seconds to spare, it was very close indeed
Next up is the very last achievement most need, for the "Black proto-Drake ----> the Naxx 25 man achievement "Immortal".
Last friday night, Ginnunga completed the 10 man achievement on Malygos "You don't have an Eternity".
This involves some good execution (need to stack the power sparks) very high DPS (over 5k DPS was done by all our damage classes in a 10 man!), very high aggro generation/precise positioning by the tank, and godlike healing from the 2 healing classes you can bring, along with great raid communication
We wiped our arses off on Wed + Friday but we kept at it and got the job done.
We did stack the raid, using the best classes for the job:- 1 feral Druid, 1 ret paladin 1 fury warrior, 1 hunter, 3 warlocks, 1 Boomkin Druid and a druid+shaman healing
With this achievement Muuman, Quozzy and Ly were able to completed all the 10 man achievements necessary to get "Glory of the raider" which rewarded them with a 310% speed epic flying mount "Plagued Proto drake" (see pic, is the fastest mount in game)
Huge congratulations guys <3
Next up is killing Malygos in 6 mins for the 25 man achievement.
